Together we can unite to support our artists and music industry professionals as one music community to turn their challenges into achievable goals.
A thriving local music ecosystem
Founded by DC area music professionals FOR local music professionals, the DMV Music Alliance is a grassroots, Wammie-nominated, non-profit organization dedicated to bringing together people from all facets of the local music ecosystem, all genres, and all backgrounds across the DMV, as well as the organizations, services, and resources needed to help with the growth of our regional musicians and industry professionals, positioning the DMV to be celebrated as a thriving, nationally recognized music scene.
Initiatives incorporate research, education and professional development, business development, financial resources, networking, and easier, quicker access to the information and tools they need to succeed so they can spend more time on their passion of creating the music, shows, and other parts of the music industry.

This Month's Spotlight
Luke J Roberts
Hailing from Maryland, LJR is a tenacious and passionate pop-rock artist who strives to empower and inspire his audience to live their lives to the fullest. Seamlessly blending ‘80s-style pop beats with alternative rock guitar solos, his music is tremendously anthemic and infectious while conveying remarkable vulnerability, speaking to those parts of the soul that yearn to heal and grow.
Coming from an engineering background (M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland), LJR has many interests. In addition to his music, he is also a filmmaker, social entrepreneur, and helps other artists on their journeys. As a Modern Musician team member, LJR helps coach artists on improving their online marketing and teaches them how to make their own pro music videos through his new online course Music Video Accelerator. He also recently launched Fundup, a new fundraising platform that helps nonprofits raise more money by giving donors an easy way to multiply their giving to the nonprofits they care about.
LJR is currently releasing his 12-track debut album “When the Sky Began to Fall,” which he is sharing with fans one song at a time with an accompanying sci fi music video series that he directs and does all the VFX for. Recorded over the course of three years, the album promises to showcase LJR’s brilliant songwriting skills and will serve as a testimony to the last decade of his life, detailing his personal evolution through discussions about his insecurities, relationships, and journey through faith. “I hope it brings a deep joy and hope to people’s lives,” he shares about the album. “I’m also really excited to create sacred moments with people at shows. I think those times are opportunities to share the deepest parts of ourselves while freeing others to do the same.”
