The DMV Music Alliance is a Washington D.C.-based grassroots non-profit committed to uniting and serving the needs of the thousands of artists and industry professionals across Suburban Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia. The Alliance provides an expansive network of area and genre representatives as well as educational, networking, and financial resources to local music professionals and creates and supports strong community-based initiatives, positioning the DMV to be celebrated as a vibrant, nationally recognized music scene.
The Alliance was set in motion in 2021 by Dave Mallen and Dani Weymouth and officially launched in 2022 by Dani Weymouth.
Dave is a long-time organizer and supporter of DC area music through the Metro Music Source, Fair Trade Music DC, and the work he does as owner and producer at his WAMMIE-award winning recording studio, Innovation Station Music.
Dani Weymouth is the founder of Backstage Development, created to help independent artists navigate the business side of their musical careers, and has been working at the legendary 9:30 Club and other IMP venues since 2010.
The Alliance was founded on a simple truth: there’s strength in togetherness. By supporting existing communities and constituencies in the local music scene, honoring the work that is already underway, the Alliance will amplify the impact of the DMV scene by better demonstrating the value of DC area music to fans, businesses, government, and external donors.
